~ Sam Beavers | https://www.facebook.com/sam.beavers.16

With everything Sam shared, I want to write stories and poems about adventures. About someone overcoming something new. About people exploring new parts of themselves. A piece that discusses the struggle between following a future and going on explorations and living a timeless life.

~ My Short Skirt by Eve Ensler | https://www.ihollaback.org/blog/2011/08/18/my-short-skirt-by-eve-ensler-the-vagina-monologues/

I absolutely love pieces that juxtapose what is a normal view in society. It always inspires me to look at things that are typically seen one way and twist them into something else. Explore another view of it and teach people about it.

~ Jed Tecson’s writing | https://skyblueskies.edublogs.org/

Jed. He is a beautiful soul whose writing would touch the heart of anyone. Even just his About Me is written in such a way that moves you. I aspire to be able to write poetry like him and his writing pushes me to improve my own.

~ A to Z prompt | (no link)

This was not done in my class, but in my TA class. I really love the idea of it and I plan on writing one about all the things I am grateful for. About adventures I want to do or things I’ve done.

~ Spiritual Journey | (no link)

I have done it two years ago, but doing it this time was a whole different experience. I am grateful I got the experience and I have so many oddball images from it that I can build stories off of.

~ One Act plays {Commencement, Any Night, Dreamspyre} | (no link)

Each show I watched gave me different breadcrumbs to create off of, as well as working on my own show, Any Night. Dreamspyre and Commencement specifically opened my eyes to writing from a true story and creating something that teaches people about what happened and shows another perspective. I want to find something I am passionate about to do something like this with, be that a play or book or anything.

~ Welcome to Nightvale podcast | http://www.welcometonightvale.com/

This was introduced during a writer’s seminar with Claire and Emily. I fell in love instantly as the randomness and mystery of it creates such a beautiful and haunting atmosphere. It’s something I want to be able to emulate in my own writing. To learn to write about such unrealistic things in a manner that makes it matter-of-fact and unarguable while also making it feel like a maze.

~ Feminism | (no link)

The idea of feminism is something I have always been drawn to and interested in. I wasn’t set in following or ‘agreeing’ with it because of how it has been twisted. Recently I have been finding more and more Instagram pages showing up on my feed and coming across them on YouTube about how feminism looks now vs what it is which have led me to look into more stories and spoken word pieces about women’s stories and standing up for ourselves. I definitely want to create something that tells people’s stories and emphasizes how some things need to change.

~ Bow View Manor with Fritz | no link

It was so cool to be able to talk with him and hear his story. He had so many cool experiences in Germany and with Oba we created such a cool piece of writing about his life.

~ One Act Plays in Red Deer | no link

There were so many creative lights and sets and sounds that I learned so much about theater this year. I got so many ideas not only for what theater to create but also inspirations for pieces to write. I have them down in a journal and I plan to bring them all to life in different ways.

~ Jade Bartlett | https://jadefbartlett.wixsite.com/tickledpurple

She is such a strong poet and I guarantee someone who will be published in the near future. I look up to her writing and often she does it. The examples she shared in class gave me so much inspiration for things to write. I plan to read her blog and find more to write from.

~ Our Short Story Lesson in Class | no link

For some reason this year’s short story lesson really clicked with me and I’m able to write them much better now. I plan to find so many more inspirations to write about and to continue the ones I started in class.
