I’m from a land of words unsaid and lost connections.
On a border between imagination and crushing reality.
I’m from a friendless area and blocked possibilities.
I’m from a crazy, wound up world of endless, uncaring commands.
Escaping daily to a creative mind of dream-like ideas and olden, woodland places.
Taunted by the judgement of others, just beyond my doors.
I’m from the unvoiced space, balanced among my thoughts
Debating among my devil and angel, daring me to speak out my opinions.
With short relaxed days, changing into dragging out moments and brief visits to my crazy escape.
I’m from darkness descending upon a frightful mind.
While doubts linger, drawing my emotions away from others.
I’m from tempting dangers of camping days.
Trees laid in darkness, river running wild, falling leaves of orange
a muddy hill with sharp thorns of warning – a slippery, deadly slope.
I’m from a foreboding place that reeked of mystery
That would watch my movements and surround me accordingly.
That would torture me with twisting, turning paths, all ending in the same spot.
I’m from a younger brother – an achiever.
Building all the things he wants and is never allowed to buy.
Showing off his creations with a brilliant smile and always being praised – a cocky brother if there ever was.
I’m from birthdays where wishes are made and never granted.
A father who signs the card and works to prove he knew what the gift was all along.
A mother who bought it all, baked the treats and put in the most effort.
I’m from missing moments of gathering to rekindle that connection.
I’m from pains of realizing how far away from my goals I was.
Dreams piled high with obstacles and barricades – and others stopping me from reaching there.
I’m from nights of tears falling slowly – avoiding sleep
Threatening to pull me back into the unknown places where my fears fester.
Stealing my thoughts and emotions into excursions of sadness and despair.
Igniting the depression with ideas of loss and recoiling in panic.
I’m from a place where my creative and dream-like ideas
are overpowered by words unsaid and lost connections
that are relentless in their endeavour to destroy me.
